Srinagar: The gunfight leading to the killing of a militant at Kangan area of Pulwama district ensued after a patrol of government forces came under attack, police said.

“On a patrol of SFs (security forces), some firing took place at Kangan, Pulwama, in which acting swiftly SFs killed one (militant) and recovered one AK 47 and one SLR gun and other incriminating materials,” a police spokesman said.

“The Identity and outfit of the killed (militant) is yet to be ascertained. The Operation stands concluded. No collateral damage has taken place in this episode,” he said, adding, “A case in this regard has been registered, and investigations taken up.”
