Anantnag: A day after a 5-year-old and three other members of his family tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 12 more persons were confirmed to have contracted the disease on Friday in Anantang, taking the number of Covid-19 patients in the southern Kashmir district to 95.
The sudden surge in the covid-19 cases in Anantnag has put authorities in bit of a spot and they have reiterated appeal to the people to strictly follow the lockdown restrictions.
The Nowgam Shangas village has so far witnessed over 60 Covid-19 cases, highest in the Anantnag district.
While talking to INS, a Health official said Anantnag district now has 84 cases and includes a pregnant woman from Kharpora village.
The administration has so far quarantined over hundreds of people and all of them are primary contacts of earlier positive patients.
