Mercury Falls As Weatherman Predicts ‘Decrease In Precipitation’

Srinagar: Weatherman on Saturday predicted a decrease in precipitation from tomorrow even as rains led to a drop in mercury in Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
An official of the local meteorological department said that Srinagar recorded 11.4mm of rainfall in last 24 hours till 0830 hours today. The mercury has also decreased with night temperature in Srinagar falling to below normal for this time of the year as it recorded 7.4 degrees Celsius compared to 7.9 degrees Celsius normal. The day temperature in this summer capital of the J&K plummeted to 13.8 degrees Celsius to normal of 21.1 degrees Celsius.
Jammu had 16.4mm of rain in the 24 hours even as night temperature dropped 16 degrees Celsius against normal of19.3 degrees Celsius.
“Scattered to fairly widespread light rain/thunder squalls over J&K regions and isolated light rain/snow in Ladakh region,” the weatherman said regarding the forecast for the next 24 hours.
Regarding the outlook for the subsequent two days, the weatherman said there would be a decrease in precipitation.
The weatherman has also issued a yellow warning for isolated thunder squalls with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 Kmph) in both Jammu and Kashmir regions till April 19.
There are four types colour codes signifying the level of caution: green (which means no action), yellow (situation to be watched), amber (government agencies need to be prepared for severe weather) and red (action needed by the agencies).
