Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter with a joint team of police, paramilitary CRPF and army in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
Official sources said that the joint team launched a cordon and search operation amid a specific input about the presence of some militants in Dairoo, Keegam area of the district.
As the joint team reached a suspected the spot, the militants, hiding there, started firing on the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
Two militants were killed in the gunfight and their identity and group affiliation is being ascertained, they added.
