Sagar’s plea against PSA detention: HC grants 2 more weeks to govt for filing counter

Srinagar: J&K High Court on Thursday granted the government two more weeks to file counter to the plea challenging detention under the draconian Public Safety Act of General Secretary, National Conference, Ali Muhammad Sagar.
A bench of Justice Sindhu Sharma granted two weeks’ time on seeking of the same by Senior Additional Advocate General B A Dar. The court also sought a report regarding its orders to the government to consider the release of Sagar on the basis of averments made in his application “more particularly with regard to the health grounds”.
The application filed along a habeas corpse petition states that the petitioner, an old aged person, is suffering from hypertension and orthopedic complications. “The applicant has developed a severe cardiovascular ailment during his detention since August 6,” reads the application filed by Sagar’s son through his counsel Advocate Shuja-ul-Haq.
