Srinagar: At least 1500 people from Kashmir who are stuck in Goa have urged authorities to provide them food and other items of daily use, alleging they have been left to fend for themselves amid lockdown aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus.
“We are in south and north parts of Goa,” said a group of people over phone to INS. “Most of the beaches in Goa have Kashmiri shops. We are at least 1500 people who have virtual nothing to eat and authorities are not coming forward with any food or items of daily use,” they said and urged the authorities in Goa as well as Jammu and Kashmir to help them in such a situation. They said that they are in Majoorda, Colva, Benaulium, Varca, Mobar, Agonda, Palolem, Sinquein, Candolim, Calangute, Baga, Arpora, Anjuna, Morjim and Vagator. “We are in distress and if the authorities cannot help us here, they should provide transport so that we can go home,” some of them said. “We are ready to pay extra money than the normal travel charges but authorities need to help us and arrange transport fro us. Our families back home are worried and dying in distress. Please help us.”
