Anantnag: Police on Tuesday claimed that it achieved a major success in killing the top Jaish e Mohammad commander Fayaz Panzoo during a gunfight in Wopzan village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.

According to police Panzoo was killed along with his associate in the gunfight.

Police said that Ponzoo was was involved in attack on CRPF at Anantnag town on June 12,2019 in which 5 CRPF Personnel were killed & SHO Arshad Khan was seriously injured who later succumbed to injuries.

Gunbattle erupted between hiding militants and forces in Wopzan village following cordon and search operation launched to flush out hiding militants.

The CASO turned into a gunfight in which two militants were killed.
