Qazigund: In a shocking incident in Emergency and Trauma hospital Qazigund, the government supply thread meant for surgical stitches is being sold at private pharmacy, while hospital authorities claim they out of stock.

The incident came to fore when a patient visited hospital on Tuesday and his wounds needed to be stitched.

Since the hospital supply has been exhausted, doctors prescribed the patient to procure the ‘Prolin 3.0’, surgical thread meant for stitches, from market.

To the patients shock, the stitches he bought from a private pharmacy, Khan Tax free Medical Shop, bore advisory that its not for sale, government hospital supply.

The patient immediately informed doctors who have raised the query with the Medical Superintendent.

MS Emergency and Trauma hospital Qazigund Asima Nazir told INS that she has been informed about the incident and has launched an inquiry into the incident.

“We will have a report on the issue in two days and we will be informing police as well,” she said.

She however feigned ignorance about the overall working of the hospital claiming her posting at the medical facility was done two days back.
