Doctors’ shortage inherited, can’t be fixed overnight: Sakina Itoo

Ganderbal: Medical attention to people has taken a hit in Shalabug village of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district as the Sub Health Center is itself in despicable conditions and lacks all the basic staff and infrastructure.

Even though the village is just seven kilometers from district headquarters, authorities have been callous to take a serious call on the ailing medical facility, locals rued.

Such is the situation, Ghulam Mohammed a local told INS, that in case of of medical attention we have to go to other health centre.

The nearest of which is almost 5 KMs from the village.

“The sub health Centre is provided with two FMPHW only. People want doctors and para-medical staff, so that they will be provided all the medical facilities in this health Centre,” locals claimed.

After 4pm there is none at the medical facility, they said.

The cracking building, a hut, which is being used as a medical facility is even not enough for storage of medicines.

When contacted Block Medical Officer Kachan said that the building is shabby and not in order.

“We will renovate the building within days and one doctor will be provided for 4 days a week,” the officer said.
