Srinagar: Parvez Rasool, an ace cricketer from Kashmir’s southern district, Anantnag, Tuesday alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) was hijacked by some people from last seven decades.

Talking to media persons here at Kashmir Press Club during a presser, Rasool who played for India at international platform said that the development in JKCA had come to grinding halt as the association was hijacked by some persons.

He added that the JKCA has utterly failed to come up with a single turf in last 70 years but in last two years, the body has almost come up with five turfs. “The lack of infrastructure here has resulted in failure in producing the players from last seven decades. The infra Jammu and Kashmir had in last seven decades was not even five per cent as compared to other states.”

Rasool who is also skipper of JK team stated that JKCA for the first time has opened district tournament in last two years. “In this year, 1600 teams across the state are participating in the tourney,” he added.

He further said that there was great potential among the youth from every nook and corner. “There are many cricketers whose career has been devastated due to lack infra,” he said.

Rasool was accompanied by other crickets including Umar Kakroo from Baramulla, Nayeem Ahmad, Nisar Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Irfan.
