Shuja-ul-Haq elected first president of KPC

Srinagar: Shuja-ul-Haq was on Monday elected as first president of Kashmir Press Club.
In the maiden election to the journalists’ body, Moazam Muhammad Bhat, Ishfaq Ahmad Tantray and Farooq Javed were elected as vice president, general secretary and treasurer respectively, according to the poll results declared after day-long voting which preceded high voltage electioneering by the contestants.
Habib Naqash, Arshad Hussain Shah, Shafat Kira, Altaf Baba, Auqib Javeed and Gowhar Geelani were elected executive members of the KPS.
As many as 231 working journalists and editors voted for four posts and a seven-member executive committee. Thirty one candidates were in the fray for the polls.
