Pulwama: Established in 1972  Government district library in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been badly hit by lack of procurement of latest books and also lacks proper staff.

“District Library is run by two persons and the computer lab has never been used since,” a visitor told INS.
Javeed ahmad , a reader said that the library has dearth of latest science and technology books, adding that only few newspapers including national papers are available in the library.

“It is disheartening when aspiring candidates visit the library to read Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) books but they are not available. This place should have been the resource hub for us all,” a visitor compalined. .

The library has around three thousand and five hundred registered book borrowers and hundreds visit on daily basis, said aa official of the library.

“We receive book stock on priority basis and we have already approached to our higher officials for latest literature,”  in charge librarian Mohammad Yousuf claimed.

Yousuf added that the computer lab is defunct due to non-availability of professional expertise.
