Srinagar: Amidst the tall claims of the authorities on providing adequate basic facilities to the people, the ruptured pipeline in Habba Kadal area of Srinagar exposed all the assertion as nine months passed but the concerned Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has miserably failed to repair it.

Inhabitants of Gadood Bagh area of Habba Kadal told The Ins that nine months elapsed since the main pipeline was ruptured in the area, adding that they repeated plead before the concerned officials but nobody bothered to repair the pipeline.

Ghulam Muhammad, a local resident said that the rupturing of pipeline has also led to the decrease in the flow of water supply. He said that it also affected the residential houses close to it.

“We are facing hardships but nobody is paying heed over our sufferings,” he said, adding that today they met the concerned officials again but they asked the local inhabitants to collect the amount from all affected people to buy the pipeline on their own so that they can repair it. “It stands the responsibility of authorities to buy and repair the pipeline but the officials present there have been asking the local residents to buy pipeline out of their own money, which is injustice,” he said.

Meanwhile, PHE Inspector from concerned division, Ghulam Rasool when contacted told The INS that he will personally visit the area this afternoon to ensure the sufferings of people will come to end.
