Srinagar: A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight with government forces in Bugam Chadoora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.
Official sources said that joint team of Army’s 53RR and police’s SOG launched a cordon and search operation in the area after “credible inputs” about the presence of the militants there. They said that the militants hiding in the village opened fire which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, one militants was killed. The body could be seen at the encounter site even as operation was going on, they said. The identity and the group affiliation of the slain would be ascertained later, they said. Meanwhile internet services have been snapped in the Budgam district.
