DG prisons asks SP to improve facilities in Central Jail Kotbhalwal

Jammu: Director General Police (Prisons) V.K. Singh Monday visited Central Jail Jammu and Kotbhalwal besides District Jail Amphalla to review the security arrangements and assess the services and reformatory programmes running in the jails.

Senior Superintendent Central Jail Jammu, Kotbhalwal, Dinesh Sharma, Superintendent District Jail Jammu, Saleem Ahmad Beig, Medical Officers and other concerned were present during these visits.

The DGP inspected all barracks, CCTV Control rooms, hospitals, reformation blocks, kitchen and other sections in the Jails.

He also interacted with the inmates regarding basic facilities available to them and educational/vocational programmes running in the Jails.

Singh asked the Jail Superintendents to take necessary measures for improving the facilities in the Jails.

He also took a darbar of the Prison Staff and listened to their grievances patiently. He urged the staff to put in their best efforts to strengthen the security system and play their role in the reformation of inmates.

During his visit to District Jail Amphalla, the DGP visited the Departmental Museum located inside the jail where Prison related artefacts and historic documents are preserved.

Later, he also inspected Retail Outlet of the Department ‘Sudhar Bikri Kendra’ located adjacent to District Jail Amphalla where Prison manufacture goods are put to sale.
