Srinagar: On the first death anniversary of a senior journalist, Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari, a book titled ‘Kashmir’s Thin Red Lines’ was on Friday released at Tagore hall here in which mainstream leaders as well as the writers, authors and others were present.
The book ‘Kashmir’s Thin Red Lines’ has been written by Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari and his wife, Dr Tahmeena Bukhari.
The book release function was organized by Kashmir Media House, publishers of Rising Kashmir Buland Kashmir and Sangarmal.
The Wire’s founding editor Sidharth Varadarajan was the chief Guest while as an Author and senior journalist Saeed Naqvi was the Guest of Honor on the occasion.
Pertinently, renowned journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Rising Kashmir Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Srinagar’s Press Colony on June 14, 2019, a day before Eid-ul-Fitr.
The assailants opened fire on Bukhari’s vehicle. He was hit by multiple bullets fired from a close range. A security guard protecting him and his driver were also shot.
He and others were immediately rushed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital, where the journalist succumbed to his injuries.
Talking to reporters, Shujaat Bukhari’s son Tamjeed Bukhari said that it was very difficult for them to release the book of his father on his maiden anniversary.
