Police official held with Heroin valued Rs 25 Lakh in Kupwara

Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that it arrested a police official serving in SDRF along with heroin worth Rs 25 lakhs in this north Kashmir district.
Talking to reporters, SSP Kupwara Shri Ram Ambarkar said that acting on specific inputs, a Naka was laid at Lalpora and stopped a vehicle. Searches of the vehicle led to recovery of 950 grams of heroin, he said. He said one person –Amjad Ali Khan son of Musa Ali khan of Diver Anderbug, who is serving in SDRF and is posted at Srinagar, was apprehended.
The SSP said that the market value of the seized quantity of heroin in international market is almost Rs 25 Lakhs. He assured that the case will be taken to logical conclusion.
The SSP appealed the people across district Kupwara to cooperate with police and inform police on time if any such practice is being carried in any area so that there is prompt action against all those involved in narcotic practice.
