Academic session in new GMC B’la to start next month

BARAMULLA, JUNE 09: District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo, today informed that the first academic session at the newly established Government Medical College Baramulla shall start from next month. He said that several arrangements have been made for the initiation of class work in the Medical College.
The DDC was speaking at a meeting convened by him to review the progress of construction and allied works at the College.
The meeting was attended by Principal Government Medical College Baramulla, Joint Director Planning, Superintendent Engineer Circle Baramulla, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Engineers from JKPCC and other concerned.
Dr Itoo took a detailed review wherein he was informed that all academic arrangements have been put in place which includes accommodation of students and faculty members, administrative and other necessities. He was also briefed that construction works on several blocks and sections have been completed whereas work on the remaining is in final phases.
Emphasizing upon the concerned agencies to ramp up the pace of remaining works, the DDC directed for completing the work of infrastructural development by November 2019.
He directed for mobilizing additional men and machinery and so that college is made functional with the stipulated timeframe. He appointed SE R&B as the Nodal Officer and directed him to review the progress of work on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, the DDC directed the concerned agency to submit a detailed project report (DPR) for Medical Waste Treatment Plant so that the waste coming out from different hospitals can be disposed of properly.
