Anantnag: Gunfight between militants anf governement forces in Nowgam Shahabad area of Anantnag district on Saturday morning.
Earlier a joint team of forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation to flush out hiding militants.
Sources said that the operation was launched following specific input that militants are hiding in the area.
The anti militancy operation was launched by a joint team of Army’s 19 RR, CRPF and SoG in the area.
An official said that contact with militants has been established and both sides for a brief time exchanged gunfire.
All the entry and exit points of the village have been sealed.
