Pattan: An Army soldier allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle inside the camp at Hamrey Pattan in north Kashmir’s Pattan on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Sepoy Battini Tirupati Rao (22), belonged to 22 Engineering Regiment and the incident took place at around 11:00 am.

He was rushed to nearby military hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, they said.
