Kupwara: As authorities failed to listen to the repeated pleas of Bohripora residents, people of the hamlet pooled money and completed the necessary flooring of bridge. The bridge, they say, is waiting completion since a decade now.
“Authorities have failed miserably rather have not done their job by not completing construction of bridge over Kehmil Nallah,” they complain.
The irony, residents say, is that no one remains how many years have passed by for the bridge..
“For some it’s 16 years, another official believes it was 18 and an Roads and building officer accepted that it is almost twenty years old project, lingering,” a villager said.
Four months ago, some work was started at the bridge but only for a week.
“We laid floor of bridge to make it feasible for pedestrian movement because its agricultural season and we had to move to fields,” Fatah Mohammad told INS.
They allege that there is no official in the district they have not knocked the door off.
“From DC to R&B, we have been to all. They do not want to work,” they claimed.
Mufti Irfan District General Manager JPCC, told INS that the work on the bridge was stopped due to paucity of funds.
“We have mentioned the same in languishing projects hopefully once funds are released the construction will start,” he said.
