Srinagar: One militant was killed in brief exchange firing at Hatlangoo area of North Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday afternoon.

 

Identity, official sources said, of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

 

Earlier, army’s 22 RR and SOG have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Hathlangoo village following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house.

Meanwhile authorities suspended internet services in Sopore town as a precautionary measure in wake of this search operation.

Clashes erupted in the area between protesters and government forces.

Forces resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters.
