Shopian/Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed on Friday in Kashmir Valley on the call by Joint Resistance Leadership against the civilian killings during the month of Ramazan.
INS correspondents from south Kashmir said that a complete shutdown is being observed in all the districts of South Kashmir.
Five militants, two civilians and two army soldiers were killed in two separate gunfights which broke out between militants and government forces at Dalipora Pulwama and Hendew Shopian yesterday.
Reports said all shops and business establishments are closed in Shopian and Pulwama while public transport is completely off the roads. The education institutions are also closed on the orders district of authorities to prevent student protests.
Authorities have snapped internet again early morning in Shopian as precautionary measure.
Hundreds of people thronged Tukroo Keegam, Bandpaho and Hendew (Iman saheb) villages of Shopian early morning to offer condolences to the militant, civilian families and to assemble for funeral prayers.
To maintain law and order in Pulwama, government forces were deployed like Murran Chowk, Rajpora Chowk and Washbugh. Similar reports of shutdown were received from Anantnag and Kulwagam districts.
Reports from north Kashmir and central Kashmir also suggest that a shutdown is being observed with shops and other business establishments closed while there is skeletal transport plying on roads.
