Shepherds ‘attacked’ in Sopore woods; 2 dozens sheep killed, 25 injured

Sopore: Nearly two dozen sheep were killed, 25 injured and 20 others are missing in upper reaches of Rampur Rajpur forests area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Shepherds on Sunday alleged that a group of people attacked them and tied them with trees. They said they lost livestock worth rs 5 lakhs in the “attack by goons”.
“We have registered a complaint with police Station Warpora,” they said, alleging that group of unknown person attacked them with axes and killed two dozen sheep.
A Police official confirmed that a complaint has been received and said that a case has been registered in this regard. “Further investigations have been taken up,” he said.
He said that team of doctors’ visited spot and took samples to ascertain nature of injuries on sheep.
” We are ascertaining whether the animals were attacked by wild beasts or the contents of the complaint which is lodged in police Chowki Warpora is true or not,” he said.
