Srinagar: On Friday 3rd May 2019 Orphans in Need, a charitable organisation embarked on distributing Iftar and Suhoor widow and orphan food parcels for the Holy Month of Ramadan. 3,000 beneficiaries gathered to collect their Ramadan food parcel at Sher-e-Kashmir Park, Srinagar.
The beneficiaries who received these food parcels were all widows who live below the poverty line. In support of this amazing food distribution and in attendance were Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (IAS) (Deputy Commissioner Srinagar), Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal (SSP Srinagar), Mr. Dawood Ahmad (SP East Srinagar), Mr. Abdul Hafiz Shah (Director Floriculre).
All the dignitaries present commended Orphans in Need, expressed their appreciation and offered their support of the good work the organisation undertakes.
Mr. Farooq Masood said “Orphans in Need are doing an amazing job, not only by providing food throughout the year to the widows, they also sponsor over 3,000 children within the Valley who benefit from Rs:1,500 per month to support their education. Also, Orphans in Need, last winter, actively distributed thousands of winter blankets throughout the Valley and I feel very honoured to be present here today in support of the good work this organisation does”.
Anis Mohammed Musa, Chairman of the organisation said “I have been working tirelessly for many years to improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable, this hasn’t always been easy and over the years, I have faced many difficulties. But today I am so very proud of my Orphans in Need, Jammu & Kashmir team and to see for myself that they are all working tirelessly, around the clock without any agenda of their own solely to benefit the orphaned children and widows that desperately need our support. Sheikh Anis also addressed the women and children gathered and emphasised on how important it is for these mothers to send their children to school and to educate them so they can all have a brighter future.
Mr Reyaz Sheikh the Managing Director of Orphans in Need, Kashmir said “Today we have distributed 3,000 food parcels and now on a daily basis for the next few days, we will be distributing many more thousands of food parcels to the widows and orphans along the LOC and in other remote areas throughout the Valley”.
Mr Zubair Hussain Gul, President of Orphans in Need, Kashmir thanked all the dignitaries, beneficiaries and volunteers who had worked tirelessly to make this distribution a success, Mr Gul also stated “a lot more needs to be done to eradicate poverty and we at Orphans in Need will all continue to serve the orphans and widows for the foreseeable future, for the pleasure of Allah”.
Mr Gul stated “Orphans in Need have been distributing food parcels on a regular basis throughout the Valley, for the past 5 years benefitting thousands of orphans and widows and this good work is set to continue for many years to come”.
Orphans in Need will be further distributing food parcels in Kupwara, Lolab, Dardpora, Keran, Karana, Handwara, Balkot, Jhalas, Shapur& various localities in Poonch.
