Rains bring night temperature below normal in Srinagar, other parts of Kashmir

Srinagar: Following rains for last few days, the night temperature in this summer capital of the state along with several other places of Kashmir dropped below normal for this time of the year.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 8.0 degrees Celsius against 12.0 degrees Celsius on previous night and 9.3 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season.
The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir received 6.8 mm of rain in 24 hours till 8:30 hours on Friday, he said. The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 9.0 against 10.8 degrees Celsius on previous night and had a rainfall of 12.8 mm during the time. The mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir last night settled at a low of 8.1 against 9.2 degrees Celsius on previous night and it had 23.6 mm of rain, the official said.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 7.1 degrees Celsius against normal of 7.8 degrees Celsius and had a rainfall of 13.4mm.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius against 4.2 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the year and had rainfall of 13.6 mm.
The famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 4.8 degrees Celsius last night against 7.4 degrees Celsius previously and had rainfall of 12.8 mm. The weatherman has forecast rains till April 27.
