Rains lash Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: Rains lashed Kashmir Valley since overnight even as night temperatures hovered above normal level, weatherman said on Wednesday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 12.0 degrees Celsius last night against 8.9 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir received 3.9 mm of rain since overnight till 8:30 hours, he said.
The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 10.8 degrees Celsius and had a rainfall of 6.8 mm while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius and it had 8.6 mm of rains during the time. Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 7.9 degrees Celsius and had rainfall of 0.8 mm. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 4.0 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 9.4 mm. The famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 7.4 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 9.4 mm. The weatherman has forecast rains till April 27.
