Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday presented the apprehended militant before media on Wednesday. He was arrested on Tuesday in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The apprehended militant identified himself as Muahmmad Waqar of Pujnjab Pakistan, stating that he was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and was active from 2017 in the Valley.

Waqar told media that he got four months armed training in Muzafarabad before infiltrating to Kashmir, saying that he was told that there are atrocities in Kashmir while as Muslims are not being allowed to pray in Masjids and the houses of Kashmiris are being destroyed.

However, he said that he was not involved in any kind of attack so far.

Moreover, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom said that the LeT militant was arrested yesterday when he along with a Kashmir driver were in a vehicle on way to Baramulla district.

He however said that it is not possible that a militant who remains active from last two years will not be involved in kind militant activity.
