Truck carrying cash catches fire, police launches inquiry

Qazigund: Police has launched an inquiry into a money carrying truck that caught fire in Panzath village of Qazigund area in Kulgam district on Monday.

The truck bearing registration no JK05- A8795 caught fire and locals rushed to spot.

While the driver and conducter escaped from the spot, locals were surprised to find stashes of cash burned inside the truck.

DIG South Kashmir Atul Kumar told INS that they have launched an inquiry into the incident.

“We have started investigation and  an FIR has been registered,” Kumar said.

Police teams have reached the spot and are verifying the situation  and efforts are on to ascertain as to how much cash was being carried in the truck.

The cash was found among the burned items it was carrying.
