J&K Bank exams: As aspirants get stuck in anti PDD protests, two engineers suspended for non-compliance of orders

Srinagar: Two engineers including Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer PDD division Bandipora were suspended on Monday for alleged dereliction of duties and non-compliance of orders.

The suspension order against the duo were passed by District Comissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza.

The suspension was ordered after they were telephonically informed to reach Ashtangoo village were residents had bloacked the Bandipora-Sopore road.

The residents were protesting against Power development department for not replacing the power transformer.

“They were ordered to reach the spot and sort-out the issue, as exams for various posts in Jammu and Kashmir bank were scheduled today and many aspirants got stuck on road due to protests,” sources said.

However, the duo did not follow the orders.

“The examinations for various posts of J&K Bank was scheduled to be held today and due to closure of road at Ashtangoo, a number of candidates faced difficulties in reaching the examination centers in time. Now, therefore, in view of dereliction of duties and non-compliance of orders, the officers are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached in the office of Assistant Commissioner [Rev] Bandipora,” the suspension order reads.

The suspended officers included Abdul Majeed Ganie, Assistant Engineer PDD Bandipora and Rajinder Singh Raina, Jr. Engineer PDD Bandipora.

DC Bandipora has ordered inquiry into the behavior of officers and  directed the District Treasury Officer Bandipora to withhold the salary of Tehsildar Bandipora/Aloosa till further orders.
