Internet clampdown, strike in Kashmir parts on Phase-II voting

Srinagar: Authorities have suspended the mobile internet service in central and south Kashmir districts in wake of phase-II of Lok Sabha polls on Thursday.
Also a complete shutdown is being observed across central Kashmir districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal on the call by Joint Resistance Leadership, an amalgam of Hurriyat Conference and JKLF.
All the shops and other business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads in three districts. Schools and colleges are closed along with government offices in these district due to holiday announced by the government. Heavy deployment of the police and paramilitary forces has been made at all the sensitive places across the parliamentary constituency seat comprising of of 15 assembly segments
Twelve candidates are in fray for the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency seat and include National Conference president Farooq Abdullah who seeks re-election.
