Srinagar: Widespread rain in plains and snow on upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir will continue on Wednesday and weather will improve from tomorrow afternoon, a meteorological department official said.
He said that Ladakh region will have very light rain and snow at few places.
He said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius last night against 7.9 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir received 6.5 mm of rain in 24 hours till 0830 hours, he said. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minimum of 9.2 degrees Celsius and had 6.0mm rainfall during the time while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius and it had rain of 3.7mm, the official said.
The famous health resort of Pahalgam, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 5.4 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 7.6 mm during the time.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 7.3 degrees Celsius and had rainfall of 15.8mm, highest in entire Valley. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 2.3 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 11.6 mm. (file picture for illustration)
