Army thrashes SDM: Employees threaten boycott of election duties if action against involved not taken, go on strike

Anantnag: Employees working under the SDM Duroo, who is also an Assistant Returning officer have gone on strike demanding registration of FIR against Army personnel who thrashed the officer on Tuesday.

“We will not take part in any election related works unless FIR is registered against the Army personnel involved in the incident,” employees said.

Employees claimed that four officials along with SDM are injured.

The employees said that if an ARO is beaten like this what is the guarantee of they being safe.

“Government should first provide us the security and not unless action is taken against the erring officers involved in the incident, no work will  take place,” they said.

The employees are protesting inside the premised of Dak Bunglow Anantnag.

According to sources SDM Duroo, also an ARO, was on his way to Qazigund.

“He was stopped by  Army near Ujroo,” sources said adding that Wani had an argument with the Army officer.

Army officer allegedly manhandled the SDM and damaged his vehicle.

Sources also claimed that the Deputy commissioner Anantnag has rushed to the place and a meeting of the officials in underway in the district.
