Basharat Rashid
Tral: As government failed to re-construct a bridge washed away by floods several years back, the residents of Rathsuna village in Tral are using poplar tree to cross the local ‘nallah’.
The locals told INS that they have been requesting the administration for years to construct a bridge “but no concrete steps are being taken in this regard.”
They said that in absence of bridge, poplar tree is being used on nallah, due to which they as well as their children suffer, who “often travel” over the bridge which “can be dangerous” anytime.
“We are suffering from many issues in absence of bridge on nallah. Our children also suffer particularly in rains. Concerned authorities should construct a bridge here to mitigate our problems,” locals said.
A delegation of locals told INS that there was a bridge on nallah which was washed away by floods some years back and it wasn’t re-constructed later.
“There was bridge constructed on nallah but the bridge collapsed and was washed away by floods. Since then we are waiting for its reconstruction but nothing has been done so far,” they said.
The residents demanded that a bridge should be constructed as soon as possible.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Tral, S.A. Raina told INS that he has collected the details and directed R&B department to prepare a DPR for the bridge construction.
