182 MCC violation complaints received; 123 disposed of, 59 under examination: CEO

Jammu: The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K and District Election Officers (DEO) have received as many as 182 complaints, including 88 through C-VIGIL on-line App from different quarters after the imposition of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) ahead of General elections 2019.
According to the office of the CEO, out of the total 182 complaints received till date, 123 stand disposed of and 59 are under examination. Similarly, out of the 88 complaints received through ECI’s On-line Citizen Portal C-VIGIL, 61 were dropped, 22 disposed of and 5 are under examination.
For violation of MCC, the authorities have also lodged six FIRs against the violators, suspended 24 employees, recovered 36 illegal weapons; seized cash amounting to Rs. 19.68 lakh and 1887 litres of liquor.
The C-VIGIL On-line Citizen Portal of Commission deals with the on-line complaints related to the MCC and Expenditure violations like distribution of liquor, drugs, money, intimidation, communal hate speech, paid news, free transportation, fake news, property defacement etc by any party, individual.
The people can make use of this medium to lodge complaints related to the MCC violations on which the election authorities take quick cognizance.
