Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said that it will announce candidates for the forthcoming parliamentary polls within two days, saying the party will be fielding its senior leaders in the elections, commencing from April 11.
Talking to INS, PDP Chief Spokesman, Rafi Ahmad Mir said the party will announce its candidates for the upcoming elections within two days after the party president, Mehbooba Mufti will return to the Valley.
He said the one new face in the party has already been announced, Abdul Qayoom Wani from Baramulla parliamentary seat while all others will be party’s senior leaders who have either served as Member of Parliament or Member of Legislative Assembly.
PDP has only announced its candidate for Baramulla constituency soon after the former unionist; Abdul Qayoom Wani joined the party in Jammu.
“PDP is expected a good result in its favour as it has worked hard since the previous PDP-BJP coalition ended in Kashmir,” he said, adding that “we got a sufficient time to reach out5 to the people once again.”
He said the difficult time party faced in the government over the agenda of alliance and performance was put forth before the people and “people understood the difficulties of the party and judge our pro-people role, therefore, at this point of time, we are expecting a good and favourable results in the elections.”
Earlier, the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have not announced their candidates for the upcoming elections. The two parties including National Conference (NC) and Congress were holding parleys to enter into bonhomie prior to the polls, which is yet to reach any decisive stage while sources informed that no pre-poll alliance will be made by the parties as they remain stick to their demands.
It is also expected that NC will announce its candidates for three seats of Kashmir today while party’s president, Dr Farooq Abdullah has already declared as party’s candidate from Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
