Srinagar: There was no breakthrough over the seat sharing between National Conference (NC) and Congress in Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming parliamentary polls here, commencing from April 11.

Reliable sources told INS that the talks between the two parties are going on but there was no breakthrough over the pre-poll alliance so far.

They said several meetings were conducted so far and the deliberations for the seat sharing were going on. “We expect that the decision in this regard will be taken by Monday evening,” sources divulged, adding that the consensus over the seat sharing is yet to reach the final stage.

“Things have not been finalized yet and would likely take one or two days to clear the air,” they said.

Sources further divulged that it has been decided that there will no pre-poll alliance in the assembly elections for which the dates have not been announced.

“Pre-poll alliance will only be made for Lok Sabha polls while both the parties will contest the state elections on their own,” they informed INS.

They said any pre-poll alliance will be done after considering the support of the parties on ground level in respective parliamentary constituencies.

Earlier On Sunday, the election commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for Lok Sabha polls, which will be conducted in five phases in Jammu and Kashmir from April 11 to May 6. The counting will be held on May 23.
