Authorities have turned yard of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) of Jammu and Kashmir into a dumping yard.

The municipal agencies have been repeatedly demanding more land from the state administration to set up landfills and waste-to-energy plants but to no avail.

Civil society member Raees Kaloo told INS that last month Div com Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan visited Sopore and guaranteed removal of the waste, and to provide a better waste management sites. ‘Nothing happened,” civil society member said.
