Anantnag: The Primary Health center in Salia area of Anantnag district is facing an acute shortage of water and electricity facility.

It also suffers lack of basic facilities including equipment, beds, lab and not even ambulance service is available for the medical center.

The health center has a total staff strength of 12 employees.

“Patients particularly pregnant ladies are badly suffering for want of medical attention during pre and post delivery time. The area is hilly and people from far-flung areas are dependent on it,” locals complained.

An official at the health department accepted the ‘failure in providing the satisfactory health care facility’ but wished to remain anonymous.

“Due to the lack of basic facilities, the health center has failed to cater to villages like Salai, Brad, Vail nagbal, Panchal pora, Palpora, Chairwad, Halwan, Manzgam, Manigam and adjoining areas,” he claimed.
