GoI playing with fire: Mehbooba, warns against tinkering with Article 35A, urges like-minded parties to forge united front

Srinagar: Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged all “like-minded” parties to come together to save Article 35A, underling that “it’s about our identity” even as she warned government of India against tinkering with special constitutional provisions.
Addressing a press conference here, Mehbooba, who heads PDP, said Article 370 is the constitutional connection between J&K & the Indian.
“Instrument of accession is contingent on Article 370, which is inextricably linked to Article 35A. Any tampering will render the Treaty of Accession null and void,” she said.
Mehbooba also warned that any attempt to tinker with the Article 370 or Article 35A would be “playing with fire” and its consequences would be unimaginable. “The consequences would be unimaginable. Something which New Delhi has not seen from 1947 till date,” she said.
