Anantnag: Spontaneous shutdown was observed in Anantnag district after rumors of scrapping Article 370 spread over social networking sites.

Eye witnesses said that the business establishments downed their shutters and the market wore a deserted look.

Locals said that youth took to streets and clashed with forces.

“They were raising slogans against scrapping of Article 370, harassment of Kashmiris outside Kashmir and arrest spree of Jamat leadership,” they said.

They claimed that forces in large number has been deployed in the area including Lal chowk of the district.
