Ladakh: Heavy snowfall leads to avalanches, cuts of roads, villages, 15 people stranded at village Jingchen

Ladakh: Heavy snowfall has hit several areas of the Ladakh division of the state leading to closure of roads, avalanches and a village cut off in Leh district.
According to officials in Leh unprecedented snowfall since Wednesday evening 15 people of village Ralakung Phima and Nangma are stranded at Jingchen area.
A village near near Lingshed fall under Leh District.
Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs Engineer Punchok Tashi has said that the village is cut-off from both Zanskar and Leh due to the heavy snowfall.
The village has only one household Jingchen and it is feared that the blockage, if prolongs, they will face scarcity of food.
“As of now they stranded persons are safe and are halting at Jingchen,” Tashi was quoted in reports.
In Kargil district avalanche hit Youljuk Suru area which has blocked Highway.
Reports reaching INS said that the avalanche also hit the residential house of Akhone Mohsin which resulted in damage to the house.
There is no loss of life in the avalanche, reports said.
District Magistrate Kargil, on Thursday closed vehicular movement on NH 1D Kargil-Leh Road, Kargil Drass Road and other major roads in view of avalanche warnings.
“The order will remain in force till further instructions,” reports said.
