Police issues advisory over rumors circulating on social networking sites

Jammu: Inspector general of Police Jammu has issued an advisory over rumors being circulated on social networking websites and urged people help them tracing those indulging in it.

“In wake of Pulwama Attack, various rumours were circulated to disrupt the peace and communal harmony,” reads the advisory.

“Every responsible citizens should bring whatsapp account names, Facebook ID’s, Twitter handles, etc from which rumours are being spread to the notice of Police for legal action,” the advisory reads.

They have also issued phone numbers for general public to lodge complaints:  0191-2542000 or 2542001. Complainant’s identity shall be kept secret.
