Srinagar: Home Minister Rajnath Singh is arriving in an short while from now and is likely to attend wrath laying ceremony of 46 out of 49 CRPF personnel killed in one of the deadliest attacks in three decades of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. Bodies of three personnel are said to be still missing, almost 20 hours after the attack took place along Srinagar-Jammu highway near Lethpora in Pulwama district.
Reports said that the wrath laying ceremony will be held at Humhama and 46 coffins draped in tri-colour are being transported to the venue.
The attack took place along highway when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy around 3:15 p.m. yesterday.
Adil Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kakapora village in southern Kashmir district, who took up arms last year, was only the second Kashmiri suicide bomber to detonate himself, the first being Afaq Shah, a resident of Srinagar who had adopted similar modus operandi by ramming his car into the army’s 15 Corps headquarters near Badamibagh in 2000.
