Srinagar: Welcoming the extension of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state, Bhartiya Janata Party Monday said that the new tax regime has not eroded the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in India Constitution.
BJP’s State General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul told KNS that special position of the Jammu and Kashmir has not been eroded due to implementation of GST.
“Implementing GST in Jammu and Kashmir is the success of PDP-BJP alliance. It was extended to the state after democratic deliberations and without eroding Article 370,” Koul told KNS.
Koul, who is on a 15-days tour to the Valley, said that after implementation of GST, the next challenge is to create awareness about the advantages of the new tax regime among consumers.
“BJP had directed all its MLAs and MPs to create awareness of advantages of GST among people,” he said.
About the proposed cabinet reshuffle of BJP minister in the state, Koul said he does not have any information about it and “such things are not on cards of the higher ups”.
Koul said he is on a 15-days tour to the Valley to apprise people of the success and programmes that have been achieved by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.
He said that he was on a visit to Karnah in Kupwara today where people from Tanghdar raised the demand of Sadhna tunnel.
“We will revise the proposal of the tunnel that was discussed by the Congress government,” Koul said.
Koul was accompanied by Anwar Khan, the local BJP leader from Kupwara. (KNS)
