Srinagar: The night temperature rose considerably across Kashmir Valley amid forecast for moderate rains and snow today and tomorrow. Overnight, the parts of Valley witnessed fresh snowfall and Gulmarg amassed one-foot of fresh snow.
An official of the MET department said Srinagar—the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir—recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.1 degrees Celsius against minus 0.2 degrees Celsius normal during the night for this time of the season .
The official said the mercury in Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south Kashmir settled at a low of 0.8 degrees Celsius and minus 0.3 degrees Celsius respectively. The famous hill resort of Pahalgam registered a minimum of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius. It also recorded 3 centimeters of fresh snow overnight, officials said.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 0.2 degrees Celsius and had 8 centimeters of fresh snowfall overnight while Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort, recorded a low of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius against minus 6.2 Degrees Celsius. It also witnessed 30-cm (one-foot) of snowfall overnight, the MeT official added.
“Moderate Rain/ snow in Kashmir valley and pirpanjal range today and tomorrow. Moderate rain/snow/thunder storm in Jammu on February 14 and 15,” the MeT official added.
