Srinagar: Srinagar Jammu highway, the only road connectivity of the valley with rest of the world remains shut for fifth consecutive day.

Officials at the traffic police department said that the road will remain closed for the vehicular movement and no vehicle be allowed to move on the stretch.

The officials said that the decision to close the road has been taken in view of snow accumulation at Banihal- Jawahar Tunnel-Qazigund stretch.

He said that there has been intermittent landslides and shouting stones incident between Ramban- Banihal stretch. Mughal Road and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road remains shut as well due to snow accumulation.

A snow avalanche recently hit the police post at Jawahar Tunnel killing eight cops while two were rescued alive after a hectic two day long rescue operation.
