Anantnag: Husband and a wife have been killed while their two daughters were rescued alive after hectic efforts as snow avalanche struck their house in Kokernag on Thursday evening.
The deceased were identified as  Bashir Qureshi, 50 and his wife Roshan Jan, 45,.
The snow avalanche had hit their house in in Sonabrari Magam Kokernag.
“Manzoor, 16, and Fatima, 18, were rescued alive by locals. They are children of Qureshi’s,” locals told INS.
They said that avalanche had hit the place at around 7 PM yesterday evening and buried the four family members under it.
Locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation and recovered bodies of Bashir and Roshan while the two children were recovered alive.
Sonabrari is a hamlet of Kokernag constituency about 45 kms from main town Anantnag.
