Jawahar tunnel avalanche: One more rescued alive, one body found, operation on

Qazigund: One more policeman has been rescued alive and shifted to Qazigund hospital while one body has also been retrieved from the snow avalanche site at Jawahar tunnel on Friday.

According to SDRF officials two persons have been retrieved alive so far including SPO Gulzar ahmad mir retrieved earlier today.

SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh confirmed the development and said that they have managed to rescue two cops alive.

“Unfortunately we recovered one dead body as well,” Singh said.

The deceased cop has been identified as Arshid Ahmad from Kulgam, and the cop retrieved alive has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool from Bandipora

Pertinently ten people were missing after an avalanche hit  Jawahar Tunnel on Thursday evening burying ten persons including six policemen, two fire service personnel and two prisoners.

However search for other trapped persons is on.
