Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Tuesday commended the holding of a World Kashmir Conference in London in which besides Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mohammad Qureshi, the members of UK Parliament spoke and impressed upon the world community to take notice of the “worst kind of human rights violations, happening in Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces.”
In a statement issued here, the lawyers’ body urged world community to play role in bringing those human rights violations to an end by resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
The Bar Association also praised the steadiness of Dr. Qasim Factoo, who completed 26 years of incarceration on 5th of February, 2019 and described the same a rock solid contribution to the ongoing “freedom struggle, which cannot be blotted out from the memories of the people easily.”
“It is not only he, but his wife Asiya Andrabi also, who has given sweat and blood to this ongoing movement and during the last thirty years has withstood all pressure tactics and has not bowed before the ruthless authorities in giving up her pursuit of securing the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir in accordance with the United Nations Resolutions.”
The lawyers’ body also strongly condemns the use of brute force against the residents of Tarigam, Kulgam during a cordon and search operation, in which besides setting ablaze two electricity transformers and a bike, the forces fired pellets as a result of which eight persons reportedly received serious injuries and had to be rushed to hospitals for emergency treatment.
